Bisou, bisou
André et Sylvie xxxx
September 18, 2010
Saturday is now here and the week that has just passed has been a busy one, even though no team occupied our guest-house. A church from the Beauce region sent us a financial gift which we used to repair disaster victims' houses, either by re-doing cracked walls, re-building fallen walls or fallen roofs. We hired a Haitian bricklayer for the fallen cement walls while each family repaired its own fallen roof. André provides them with 2 x 4 planks and when that part of the work is done, he then brings them the metal sheets. This way, we are certain the work will be well done.
André, along with a few young people from the neighborhood, erected toilets and a shower for the five families having had to find refuge in temporary makeshift shelters the last visiting team from New York had built. These are truly the most modern of toilets (as one can see from the photos), ah ! ah ! We copied the model Oxfam-Québec had put up for groups of 1000 plus. Only the walls now need to be completed. I am sending you this message a little late since another team has arrived yesterday. More news will follow shortly. Hugs and kisses,
André and Sylvie.
